Teletherapy revolutionizes access to care, allowing individuals to receive help when they need it, regardless of distance. While I value in-person therapy, I have witnessed incredible progress and breakthroughs through video, phone, and in-person sessions. EMDR and most other modalities can be effectively conducted over video. Even sand tray therapy can be utilized online. If you're uncertain, give it a try—you might be pleasantly surprised!
Similar to physical illnesses, mental illnesses can often be treated. Numerous techniques and tools, including therapy, can aid in the healing process or help individuals become more empowered and live more fully despite their illness.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) offer valuable insights and comfort by helping us understand and navigate our experiences. These modalities provide a logical framework for understanding how our brain and emotions function, develop, and can change. I deeply appreciate the clarity and support they offer.
Inner child work and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy are powerful approaches where I have witnessed and personally experienced remarkable breakthroughs. We are often more complex than we realize, with various parts, feelings, thoughts, and beliefs that can lead to contradictions, confusion, and frustration. Through inner child work and IFS, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your different parts, and how to achieve peace amidst it all.
I specialize in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and have seen remarkable breakthroughs with this approach. While EMDR may not be suitable for everyone, there are many other effective modalities available. EMDR is designed to address trauma, which is often at the root of many mental health issues. Together, we can determine if EMDR is the right fit for you. Learn more about EMDR here: https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/
The body plays a crucial role in mental health. It is often considered the subconscious and is said to 'keep the score' of our experiences. Regular physical activity has been shown to be more effective than antidepressants, although medication can also be important and beneficial. Somatic symptoms occur when mental distress manifests in the body, such as headaches, muscle tension, or ulcers caused by stress. Somatic and meditative work involves understanding and processing feelings. Many people mistake thinking about their feelings for actually feeling them, which can intensify emotions. True emotional processing is a meditative practice that can bring peace amidst intense feelings.
Relationships are unique creations between individuals, each bringing their own complexities. I am here to help you heal and discover ways to create positive change both individually and collectively. By working with each member of the relationship, either together or separately, we can foster a functional system free from blame, filled with safety and understanding, where everyone can begin to believe they are on the same team.
Therapy can be a valuable resource for everyone. Whether you are dealing with mental illness or mental blocks, therapy can provide the support you need. It can be the helping hand that lifts you up, the comfort that soothes you when you feel overwhelmed, the sounding board that offers clarity, or the coach that guides you toward achieving your goals.
